    Description

    American Gold Thimbles Book
    By The Philadelphia Thimble Society
This excellent reference book on American gold thimbles is the work of many dedicated collectors over almost a decade. It is packed with detailed information about these wonderful thimbles including the history, makers, marks and how to identify gold and gold plated American thimbles. There are almost 200 color illustrations of the thimbles, marks and maker's advertisements. There are detailed histories of the makers including Barker, Carter Gough & Co, Ketcham & McDougall, Muhr, Simons Bros., Stern Bros., Untermeyer-Robbins, Waite Thresher and several early American silversmiths. Patented, unidentified and unmarked gold and gold filled thimbles are also included.
There is an extensive glossary in the back that explains thimble terms and characteristics
. It has 64 spiral bound pages and measures 8 1/4" by 11". I've shown a small sampling of the photographs as well as some of the history and marks information. These are new copies published in 2009.
