Recently Reconditioned vintage 1973 Kyoraku Taiyo Pachinko Machine

Reconditioned on July 8, 2021.
Tested working fine, however some features do not work such as:
- Flag tab (prevents balls going into launcher when ball hopper is low. Missing rod and tab broken)
- rare win overflow switch (not in use)

Replace acrylic with a used thicker sheet to prevent balls from being wedged against thinner bowed sheet during play.
There are 2 fuses; the one on the left is not in use; this was for the parlor and was connected to the overflow switch. If too many win balls are in the bottom receiver tray, it would push the lever triggering the overflow switch to go off. This feature is not in use because someone modified the bottom Ball dump chute. They cut out a piece and glued it at an angle so that balls would return to the users lower receiver tray. This mod caused balls to jam up the narrow dump chute; I removed it so that balls exit the machine as originally designed, however the cavity they created still exits so that in the event balls back up, some may exit the return chute (again, see last pic).
Overall, it’s not bad for a 48 year-old machine; it works good and is cleaner than most available on eBay of this age. The acrylic sheet is difficult to get out because it is thicker than most designs just grab both ends and work it side to side and it will eventually give; the thinner sheets tend to bend and create pockets for balls to get stuck, and this machine had that problem; these machines, as you probably know, are supposed to have glass in the front, but acrylics are safer.
This is not a perfect restoration; I just spent about a week taking it apart and cleaning the insides and outside as best I could to recondition it for fun. I almost forgot to mention the jackpot has a background transparent green plastic cover that allows you to see the jackpot hopper balls; the left side has a piece chipped off. This does not affect gameplay; it’s just cosmetic damage that you should be aware of.
