    2. What's is MILMIL series?
The MILMIL series is a Japanese Hasami porcelain tableware.
It is a creation by product designer Kazuhiko Tomita, who had been in charge as the art director of COVO (Rome Italy). these table objects are the mixture of Japanese and Italian living cultures and would take the whole world to future lifestyle.
[MILMIL]The name is expressing the year 2000 of launch as Italian term MILLE(1000) + MILLE(1000)=[2000]. Milmil means ‘instantly’ "I want these Japanese living objects to spread on every single table in the world."
The theme of each decorative pattern is Eternal Life.
In Corona era, eternal life means the preservation of ourselves human beings as a species, much more than the ultimate desire of each individual. We may receive the long-term prospect from a piece of porcelain, with widely-open minds to the whole universe.
There exist 6 variations and the new comers in latest production are just 4.
Karakusa: the kingdom of plants. regeneration for endless life.
Rain on waves: eternal circulation and movement of water.
Sparkles on stripes: every dot as a star/a life. Stripes of generations.
Genome stripes: Genetic elements originating lives to be respected.
Burning windows: Attention on fire. Warmth and affection of home.
Whirlpool circles: little galaxies, new-born eggs/eyes for the universe.
Each decorative pattern has been hand stamped one by one with wet glaze on biscuits by using hand-carved rubber plates. Only great masters after 40 years exercises can switch from brushes to stamps and address them repeatedly at the same position on 3 dimensionally curved surface of biscuits on the turning table.
Thus each single cup, bowl, plate or dish is to be the individual art piece since strictly speaking, it can never be the same because of hand-made. This skillful technique succeeded uniquely in Hasami Porcelain will make Milmil easily distinguishable from any similar ceramic product in the world, however such great heritage is now vanishing as those masters are all age of mid 60s. Please note that Milmil is unfortunately being listed on red data book and no one knows how long they continue this remarkable production.
