ESTATE FIND!
Very unusual set that includes chopstick rests and a lotus or chrysanthemum bowl.  Of the 6 rests, two are 1950s era porcelain with "Japan" labels on the base - there is one pink carp and one grey long carp.  The other 4 chopstick rests look to be handmade and they are 4 different designed fish.  They are unsigned but their patterns are unique and look like the detailing is all hand-done on each.  The bowl looks like it is from the same time period and is mold made.  It is also unsigned.
I don't know the age of the handmade pieces - they could be 1960s or 1940s or some other time period - though I don't believe they are newer than the 1970s.
It's a truly unique set and one of a kind.
Condition
The 2 porcelain "Japan" marked carp are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.  The 4 handmade fish have some roughness and a couple of nicks on the tail fin tips.  The bowl has a couple of nicks on a few of the petal tips.  That being said, it's a unique set and it still shelves well.  If you are looking for perfection though, please do not bid - these pieces are handmade so they have the uniqueness that comes with handmade pieces.

About Us
